Hersheypark: A Century of Family Fun Hershey Museum is proudly commemorating 100 years of Hersheypark history through a new exhibition: Hersheypark: A Century of Family Fun. The new exhibit will guide visitors as they discover why Hersheypark has survived two world wars, the Great Depression and the nationwide decline of amusement parks to emerge as one of the nation´s most popular theme parks. The exhibition features historic objects such as celebrity handprints in cement pavers from various Park performers, including Bob Hope, Loretta Lynn and Liberace, as well as the train-shaped sign used at the main entrance of Hersheypark from 1973 to 2002. Visitors also can see character costumes, historic Park souvenirs, and items from the former swimming pool and ballroom as well as picnic souvenirs from the earliest decades of the Park. |

Wunnerbar Dinga: Wonderful Things from the Pennsylvania German Collection A new exhibit focusing on the Pennsylvania German Collection of George H. Danner will open at the Hershey Museum. Come explore the life and world of George Danner and learn how Milton Hershey preserved this unique collection. Featured items include natural oddities, ceramics, furniture and other unusual relics. |

KISSTORY: The Story of an American Icon Sponsored by HERSHEY´S KISSES CHOCOLATES From it´s inception in 1907, the Hershey´s KISS has enjoyed phenomenal popularity that remains to this day. This newest installation to the Museum´s permanent exhibits will reveal the unique history of this treasured treat and include product development, production methods and promotion via colorful vignettes and interactive displays. |

ChocolateTown Square 2008 FREE Summer Fun for the Entire Family! Presented by Hershey Museum at ChocolateTown Square in downtown Hershey at the corner of Cocoa & Chocolate Avenues. In the event of inclement weather, performances will take place at the Hershey Public Library. Wednesdays are Kids Days! Wednesday, June 11 at noon ZOOAMERICA presents "Birds of Prey" Come meet the masters of the sky in this program where a variety of native birds of prey are the focus. Wednesday, June 18 at noon History Through Folk Music with Jay Smar Jay brings history to life as he fiddles, sings and flat–foots his way through traditional American and original folk music. His fascinating history facts and resonating renditions of classic folk songs will enlighten and delight the whole family. Wednesday, June 25 at noon Juggler, Magician and Comedian Al Grout When you´re not laughing, you´ll be gasping at Al´s amazing magic tricks, juggling and balancing feats. His riveting show will fascinate children and adults alike. Wednesday, July 2 at noon Allison DeSalvo, Summer Fun Family Concert Sing and dance along to this fun-filled, interactive concert of traditional, original and international songs. The whole family will love this innovative music festival! Wednesday, July 9 at noon Sunflower Mime, Michelle Wasik Stroll through the "garden" and meet Sunflower and her special friends. You may be asked to join the adventure! Wednesday, July 16 at noon Mock Turtle Marionettes, Time Out for Puppets This entertaining tale offers a peek behind the scenes of the marionette theater and features a series of great moments from their plays. Audience participation encouraged! Wednesday, July 23 at noon International Music, Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou Travel around the world of song in this unique interactive show. Enjoy songs from American, Latin American, African, Middle Eastern, Caribbean and Native American traditions. Wednesday, July 30 at noon Hershey Museum presents "Waterworks" Discover the many ways that water has been used in the past in this hands-on program. Try out a pump and water wheel, sail a toy boat and sample an old-fashioned icy treat. Participants may get wet! (There is no rain location for this event.) Hot Summer Nights Jazz Series Join us for some cool music from the area´s finest jazz musicians. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic dinner! Chocolate Chats June 14 through September 1 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Join us in a replica of Milton Hershey´s first candy shop to learn how his early experience as a confectioner eventually led to his success as a chocolate manufacturer. See, touch and smell the raw ingredients of chocolate and find out how he helped make this formerly costly confection into an everyday treat. Each chat concludes with a taste! |

Kids, Crafts & Creations Weekdays, June 23 through August 15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Activities to engage the whole family are presented by the Museum´s youth volunteers. A variety of hands-on crafts and demonstrations connect with the Museum´s various exhibits. Mystery objects, quilting, “factory work” and scavenger hunts are just some of the fun! |

“It´s a Wrap!” Hershey Museum Closes Its Doors Tuesday, September 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The community is invited to visit the Hershey Museum free of charge on September 2, the last day of operation. This is a day to savor, reminisce and anticipate the new opportunities for discovery at The Hershey Story, opening in December. |

The Barnes Foundation, Merion, PA Thursday, July 10 The Barnes Foundation houses one of the finest collections of early French Modern and post-impressionist collections in the world. Your visit to this extraordinary museum will include time to see the Arboretum which is noted for its collection of rare and diverse plants, yet balances aesthetic values with botanical and horticultural interests. Gardens and Monuments of Washington, D.C. Thursday, September 11 Join Hershey Gardens´ Director Craig George as he continues his tour of Washington, DC. This day will begin at the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, a park that reflects the history of the nation´s rivers and wetlands. Next, after a seafood buffet at Phillips Flagship Restaurant we will visit the monuments that remind us of this significant date: the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, the Iwo Jima Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and the Korean and Vietnam Memorials, among others. Mexico: A Taste for Chocolate Sunday, October 12 through Monday, October 20 Join Hershey Museum on this memorable trip to Mexico, the birthplace of chocolate. Explore the distinctive role chocolate has played in the culture and cuisine since the ancient time of the Olmecs up to the present day. We will examine the ancient and modern Mexican culture in Mexico City, Puebla, and especially Oaxaca,and the influence of climate, elevation, flora, and fauna on agriculture, art, architecture, and ways of life. We will experience the perennial spring of Oaxaca, one of Mexico´s leading art centers, as we tour its rich colonial history and its outstanding architectural beauty. In particular, we will investigate its cuisine, which extends to a diverse gastronomy—from moles to mezcal. The varied cuisine of Mexico has evolved during its 3,000 years of history, and is built upon influences from the country´s indigenous groups, including Maya, Aztec, Zapotec, and sprinkled with cooking styles from Spain, France, and Italy, to name a few. We will visit authentic markets and trace the origins and use of chocolate in its many dishes. In addition,we will participate in cooking lessons and taste our creations! A private visit and cooking demonstration has been arranged exclusively for us at a colonial building in Mexico City´s Historical Center. We will stay at lovely accommodations—all 5-star hotels—and visit renowned and colorful restaurants. We will explore the impressive archaeological sites of Teotihuacán, Monte Albán, and Mitla; also tour artisan workshops and traditional villages. Young Frankenstein, New York, NY Saturday, October 25 It´s alive! A wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend based on Mel Brooks´ classic comedy masterpiece, the story follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein as he attempts to complete his grandfather´s masterwork and bring a corpse to life. Holiday Tours at Nemours Mansion and Longwood Gardens Friday, December 5 Nemours Mansion and Gardens, originally constructed in 1910, is one of the grandest buildings ever constructed in Delaware and includes the largest formal French garden in North America.
